Fullness

— King Wen of Zhou

Ancient Comments on the Image

— Duke of Zhou

Thunder and lightning both arrive: Fullness.
The exemplary person accordingly decides legal cases and carries out punishment.

Judgment

— King Wen of Zhou

Fullness: flourishing. The king goes to it; do not worry, fitting is the sun at midday.

Moving Lines

— Duke of Zhou

1
Encounters its matching master; although for ten days no blame, going forward there is esteem.
2
Excessive its screens; at midday the Dipper is seen. Going forward one encounters doubt and affliction. Possessing sincerity, manifesting it thusly, auspicious.
3
Fullness is its overflow; at midday foam appears. Breaking the right arm, no blame.
4
Excessive its screens; at midday the Dipper is seen; meeting his level-lord, auspicious.
5
Brilliance comes, there are blessings and praise, auspicious.
6
Making the house grand, screening the home, peering through the door, desolate and without people; three years without seeing, ominous.

Ancient Comments on the Moving Lines

— Confucius

1
Although for ten days no blame, passing the ten days is disaster.
2
Possessing sincerity, manifesting it thusly: using trust to express the intention.
3
Fullness is its overflow: not suitable for great affairs. Breaking the right arm: ultimately cannot be used.
4
Excessive its screens, the position is not fitting. At midday the Dipper is seen, dark and not bright. Meeting his level-lord, auspicious; it is acting.
5
The auspiciousness of six five is that there are blessings.
6
Making the house grand: soaring at the edge of heaven. Peering through the door, desolate and without people: hiding oneself.

Ancient Comments on the Judgment

— Confucius

Fullness is greatness. Brightness with movement, therefore fullness. The king goes to it; he values the great. Do not worry, fitting is mid-day: it is fitting to illuminate all under heaven. When the sun reaches midday, then it declines; when the moon is full, then it is eclipsed. Heaven and Earth fill and empty, waxing and waning with time—how much more so for humans? How much more so for ghosts and spirits?
