Steadfastness is auspicious, regret vanishes; nothing is unfavorable. No beginning, yet an end. Three days before Geng, three days after Geng, auspicious.

巽在牀下，喪其資斧，貞凶。

Submission is under the bed, losing one's resource-axe; steadfastness is ominous.

Ancient Comments on the Moving Lines

— Confucius

進退，志疑也。利武人之貞，志治也。

Advance, retreat: the intention is doubtful. Advantageous is the steadfastness of the martial man: the intention is settled.

紛若之吉，得中也。

The auspiciousness of the flurry is obtaining the center.

頻巽之吝，志窮也。

The constriction of frequent submission is that the intention is exhausted.

田獲三品，有功也。

Obtaining three kinds in the field: there is achievement.

九五之吉，位正中也。

The auspiciousness of Nine Five is that the position is correct and centered.

巽在牀下，上窮也。喪其資斧，正乎凶也。

Submission under the bed: the top is exhausted. Losing the resource-axe: this is precisely ominous.

重巽以申命，剛巽乎中正而志行。柔皆順乎剛，是以小亨，利有攸往，利見大人。

Double submission to reiterate commands; the firm submits in centered correctness and the intention is carried out. The yielding all accord with the firm; therefore, small flourishing, advantageous to have somewhere to go, advantageous to see the great person.
