Skillful walking leaves no track; |
skillful speaking has no flaw; |
skillful counting uses no rods; |
skillful closing—no bolt or bar—yet cannot be opened; |
skillful tying—no rope or cord—yet cannot be undone. |
Therefore the sage always skillfully saves people, |
so no one is discarded; |
always skillfully saves things, |
so nothing is discarded. |
This is called inheriting clarity. |
Therefore the skillful person |
is the teacher of the unskillful; |
the unskillful person |
is the resource of the skillful. |
Not valuing the teacher, |
not cherishing the resource— |
though wise, greatly lost; |
this is called the essential mystery. |
