Well built, it cannot be uprooted; |
well held, it does not slip away; |
therefore descendants continue the sacrifices without ceasing. |
Cultivate it in the self, |
its Virtue is then genuine; |
cultivate it in the family, |
its Virtue is then abundant; |
cultivate it in the community, |
its Virtue is then expansive; |
cultivate it in the state, |
its Virtue is then plentiful; |
cultivate it in all under heaven, |
its Virtue is then universal. |
Therefore, by the self observe the self, |
by the family observe the family, |
by the community observe the community, |
by the state observe the state, |
by all under heaven observe all under heaven. |
How do I know all under heaven is so? |
By this. |
