| 大 道 汎 兮 |
the great way overflows! |
| 其 可 左 右 |
it can left or right. |
| 萬 物 恃 之 以 生 |
the 10k things relying on it to receive life |
| 而 不 辭 |
yet it is not diminished. |
| 功 成 遂 |
impressive accomplishments reaching |
| 而 不 名 有 |
but no honor receiving |
| 衣 被 萬 物 |
covering and raising the 10k things |
| 而 不 為 主 |
but not lord-ing |
| 常 無 欲 |
becuase it is continually without desires |
| 可 名 於 小 |
can be called small |
| 萬 物 歸 焉 |
where the 10k things gather |
| 而 不 為 主 |
but not lord-ing |
| 可 名 於 大 |
can be called great |
| 是 以 聖 人 終 不 為 大 |
this is how the taoist can become great |
| 以 其 不 為 大 |
without using some great effort |
| 故 能 成 其 大 |
thus he can become great |
